Hollister Police Chief David Westrick on Monday said the “suspicious death” case from Christmas Eve is not classified as a homicide as of yet.
Hollister police are investigating a “suspicious death” as a potential homicide after finding a male with apparent head trauma on Scenic Circle, according to the Hollister Police Department. Police identified the victim as Raul Delarosa, 28, of Hollister, according to a statement.
According to police, at about 3 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a medical aid call with the fire department for a non-responsive male in the 2000 block of Scenic Circle.
Responders administered medical aid but the male died at the scene. Detectives identified apparent head trauma, and it is being investigated as a homicide pending further investigation and an autopsy, according to the HPD.
Police Chief David Westrick on Monday said it is an active investigation but is not officially classified as a homicide case.
“We investigate it with the same tools as a homicide,” Westrick said.
