Vivian Marie Hoagland died Saturday, July 26, at the age of 71.

Hoagland was born in San Juan Valley. She attended San Benito High School and San Benito Junior College. She moved to San Jose in 1951 to work at an insurance company.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Hoagland of San Jose; children Tom and Jill Hoagland of Pollock Pines, Calif., and Don and Claudia Hoagland of San Jose; siblings Jene and Rita Freitas of San Jose, Mary “Tiny” and Sal Spina of Hollister, Lorraine Tavares of Morgan Hill, Joseph and Linda Freitas and Anthony and Adele Freitas, all from San Juan Valley; grandchildren Tom Hoagland of Placerville, Calif., Brian Hoagland stationed in Hawaii, Amy Hoagland of Pollock Pines, Calif., and Clayton and Hannah Hoagland of San Jose. Hoagland is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, at the Campbell Memorial Chapel in Campbell from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. followed by a procession to the Los Gatos Memorial Park.

Contributions are preferred to the American Cancer Society, care of the Campbell Memorial Chapel.
