San Benito's David Hawks can't get his shot to fall between two Bellarmine defenders as the Balers fell 3-0 in the opening round of the CCS playoffs Thursday night.

In a swift three-game match against Bellarmine in the second round of the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs Thursday night, the San Benito volleyball season ended.

The Balers couldn’t overcome miscues and failed to gain an offensive rhythm against the taller Bells in the three-game sweep (25-19, 25-20, 25-19).

The problems started early for San Benito, as they overshot their first three serves of the match.

The Balers could never find an answer for the 6’8” Kyle Suppes, who controlled the net all match long.

Team captain David Hawks finished with 22 assists and one block in the loss for San Benito. Robert Henderson led the Balers with six kills, as Isaiah Acfalle and Carlos Gutierrez each finished with five kills.

Dylan Lomanto finished with 19 digs.

The loss ends the most successful San Benito season since 2009. The Balers, who finished 29-5 with a Tri-County Athletic League title, failed to win a game for only the third time all year.

The Balers have still never won a CCS playoff game.
