The San Benito Haybalers made quick work of visiting Gonzales on Thursday and picked up its first win of the season — and its first league win — when it swept the Spartans in three games (25-6, 25-4, 25-11) at Hollister’s Mattson Gym.
Statistics were not provided at press time.
The Balers are now 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the Tri-County Athletic League. San Benito will compete in the Spring Fling this weekend in Aptos — a nine-team tournament that will include teams such as Soquel, Monterey, Watsonville, Los Gatos, Mitty, San Lorenzo Valley and Scotts Valley, along with the host Aptos.
