Volunteers helped Pat St. John celebrate her birthday.

Pat St. John had a birthday last week and many of the volunteers at Pat’s Place, a local thrift shop, gave her a potluck lunch in honor of her special day.  St. John said the reason she comes in to the shop to give her time is because of the volunteers that work there.

All of the volunteers feel the same way, but they come because of Pat and her unselfish desire to help those less fortunate. When the local food bank was in need of funds several years ago, St. John suggested a thrift shop as a way of continuously raising funds for the food bank.

At first the idea was met with some hesitation, but after more than three years the thrift store, aptly named after its creator, is doing great and providing much needed funding to our Community Food Bank.  The store is located at the corner of Fifth and Sally streets and is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Donations are accepted on these days as well as on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on the first Saturday of every month from noon to 3 p.m.  Stop in to shop or donate and say happy birthday to the heart and soul of Pat’s Place, Pat St. John.
