Walter P. Brawley, of Florence, OR, formerly of Morgan Hill, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour the evening of March 23rd. Walter, who was in good health at 94, died unexpectedly of a recently diagnosed and fast-growing cancer. He passed away peacefully at home with loving family at his bedside.
In February, Walter and his wife, Gladys, celebrated their seventy-fourth wedding anniversary with a large family gathering in Florence. The most significant characteristic of Walter’s life is that he was a child of God and loved the Lord. He lived a quiet and consistent Christianity that was an example to all who knew him.
Walter worked in farming, ranching, manufacturing and restaurant management. He loved to fish, enjoyed gardening and loved going to church.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife, his lifetime companion of 74 years, Gladys J. Ford-Brawley of Florence, OR, and a brother, Leonard Brawley, Oklahoma City, OK. He is also survived by three daughters, their husbands, 11 surviving grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great- grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of cousins throughout the country.
Like the plain, simple and straightforward man he was, and by his request, Walter will be laid to rest in a plain, simple and straightforward pine box at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125, on Monday, April 2, 2007 at 1 P.M.
