Wendyl Lee Steiner, 67 of Salinas, CA passed away at his home on Thursday, September 23, 2010, due to complications of Pancreatic Cancer.

He was born November 7, 1942, in Orrville, OH. He moved to Salinas, CA in the early ’60s when he helped his parents relocate for his fathers new job with Smuckers.

He intended to return to Ohio but fell in love with the weather in CA and decided he did not want to return to the snow. He was always interested in cars and his first race car “The Phantom” brought him a lot of joy.

He had various jobs in the automotive field in Salinas and Sacramento. In 1995 he went to work at Ray’s Auto Parts in Gilroy and then in 2005 he bought the business and converted it to a Napa Auto Parts store. He loved taking his 1963 Plymouth that he and his wife Sheryl restored out for nice drives and to car shows and he won several trophies with this car.

He and his wife enjoyed going to Giants games and he was an avid 49er and Ohio State Buckeye fan. He was a loving father and husband and was loved by everyone who knew him.

Survivors: Wife: Sheryl Ann Steiner of Salinas, daughter Amy and her husband Rusty Rhoads of Cedar Park, TX, son: Aaron Steiner and his fiancee Jennifer of Indianapolis, IN, brother: Roger and his wife Bernadette Steiner of Corona , CA, sister: Cheryl and her husband Jim Coviello of Sacramento,CA, niece: Shawna, nephews: Scott and Troy, step- daughter; Debbie and her husband Michael Ierano of Leeton, Australia, best buddy “Fred” his dog and numerous family members and friends in Ohio

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 30, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at the Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 East Alisal Street, Salinas, CA.

Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street, Salinas, CA.
