Willard J. Hart died March 19 at his home in Hollister. He was 87.

He was a lifetime resident of San Benito County and was educated in local schools. He was a member of Hollister United Methodist Church, the Operating Engineers Union, Seismic Shufflers Squaredance Club, a 25-year member of the Square Sam’ers Squaredance Club and a former member of the Lions Club.

He was a local rancher for most of his life and also previously worked for Hillsdale Rock as an operating engineer.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Hart of Hollister, whom he was married to for 31 years. He is also survived by his son Don Hart and wife Carol of Hollister, son Paul Hart of Houston, Texas, stepson George Jewell of Parkfield, Calif., stepson William Jewell of Santa Maria and stepdaughter Betty Fink and husband Randy of Cottonwood, Calif. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is proceeded in death by brothers Leonard and Buzz Hart.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Hollister United Methodist Church, 521 Monterey St. with burial afterwards at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Contributions are preferred to the Hollister United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home.
