William “Bill” Anthony Buchner, born April 30, 1924 at his family’s home in San Francisco, died May 9, 2007 in Gilroy. He was a 40 year resident of San Martin, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Antoinette Buchner and his brothers; Albert, Elmer, and Ray.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Isabelle “Kitty” Buchner, children Karen Pedigo, Robert Buchner and Jim Buchner, all of San Martin, Linda Susan Buchner of Israel, William Buchner of Maryland, Nancy Collins of Prunedale, Buck Buchner of Boulder Creek, John Buchner of Gilroy and sister Norma McCrellis of South San Francisco.
Bill attended St. Cecilias Grammar School and Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco. He spent many childhood summers at his uncle’s ranch in San Martin. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp. in the South Pacific during World War II. Bill retired from Pacific Bell in 1981 after 35 yrs. of service.
A visitation will take place Friday from 5 P.M. with funeral services beginning Saturday 4 P.M., both at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth St., Gilroy.
