William Bengard

Former Hollister resident
Former Hollister resident William C. “Bill” Bengard died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002 at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. He was 74.

Mr. Bengard was born in King City and raised in Hollister and had lived in Monterey for the past 15 years. He graduated from San Benito High School and Gavilan College and worked for Pacific Gas and Electric for 40 years, retiring as an electric T&D general foreman. He was a member of the Monterey Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mert Bengard of Monterey; his son, Tim Bengard of Paso Robles; his daughters, Lynn Kropp of Prunedale, Gail Bengard of Carmel Valley and Karen Bengard of Mountain View; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of the Resurrection wil be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at Mission San Juan Bautista. Inurnment will follow at San Juan District Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Paul Mortuary in Pacific Grove.
