William (Bill) Tykol passed away peacefully on February 2, 2008, at age 88, in Morgan Hill, California. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years of marriage, Dorothy. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy (Mrs. David Brown), and leaves sons, Tom and David; grandchildren, JW, Debbie, Jessica, Justin and Andrew; great-granddaughter Jordan, and loving nieces and nephews. Born in Chicago in 1919, Bill ended up in San Martin, California, graduating from Live Oak High School in 1937. He married in 1942 and served as Army Tech Sergeant in WWII. He owned the trusted Chevron service station on First Street in Morgan Hill for 22 years and was a bailiff in the Santa Clara County court system for 15, until 1984. An active member of his community, Bill was a charter member of the Morgan Hill Rotary Club, Man of the Year in 1969, a member of the Morgan Hill Police Reserve and, more recently, an Elder at Morgan Hill Bible Church. He volunteered to help wherever he could, the first arrive and the last to leave. He proudly shared his love of rock collecting with many grade school classes, and will be remembered for his honest nature and sense of humor.

A memorial service will be held at Morgan Hill Bible Church, 15055 Monterey Highway, at 11 A.M. on Saturday, February 9. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Bill’s name to Morgan Hill Bible Church.
