William Silveira Andrade, 90, formerly of Hollister now from Shasta Lake, Calif., passed away Saturday May 29, 2004.

Born in Paicines, November 1, 1913 to Frank and Maria Andrade. Married June 21, 1936 to Leonore M. Andrade.  They would have celebrated their 68 anniversary this June. Loving father of William Frank Andrade of Redding, and RoseMarie Robbins of Shasta Lake; Brother of Tony Andrade and Joe Rose, Marie Toggnazzini, Clara Bettencourt and Betty Betencourt all of Hollister, Anna LePaine of San Jose and Angie Bettencourt of Roseburg, Ore.

He has six Grandchildren, ten Great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceeding him in death were his parents and sister, Helen Azevedo and brothers Manuel, Frank, George and Joe Andrade.

He lived in Hollister until five years ago when he moved to Placerville and then one year ago he moved to Redding to be with his children.  As a teenager he worked for Louis Ladd Ranch and later pursued his life-long farming career.  He did carpenter work for a little more then 10 years but went back to his first love of planting and harvesting tomatoes.  He retired completely at 68 and he and his wife persued his love of hunting and fishing.  He was an avid hunter in his younger years and then when he retired he spent a lot of time with friends traveling from lake to lake doing what he loved, fishing.  He was a great fisherman and when he wasn’t fishing, he was in his beautiful  garden growing the best vegetables and flowers around town.  People used to stop and admire his sweet peas and also the pumpkin patch he and his grandson, Eben Daniels, raised.  You might also find him up in an apricot tree pruning or picking them.  In 1999 his eyesight got so bad he could not do his garden so he moved from Hollister to be with his family.  He will be missed by all.

Friends may visit at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Thursday from Noon to 8 p.m.  Funeral services will begin on Friday at 9:30 a,m. from the funeral Home proceeding to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a funeral Mass commencing at 10 a.m. Burial and graveside services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Hollister.
