Wilma Carolyn Brown died Thursday, Aug. 7, at Hazel Hawkins Hospital at the age of 86.

Born in Colorado, she taught at various schools in the state, and moved to San Benito County two years ago. The “Brown side” of her family were early settlers in Colorado after the Civil War. She enjoyed oil painting and collecting antiques.

Brown was preceded in death by husband of over 50 years, Earl Walter Brown and her sister Glenna Chandler. She is survived by her children, Dale L. Brown of Hollister, Darryll Brown of Nevada, Dean Brown of Lakeport, Calif., and Linda Summa of Fresno, Calif. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been made through Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory for a private cremation with private inurnment in Colorado.

Donations are preferred to the American Cancer Society, care of the mortuary chapel.
