“It is unknown what his intentions were or why he was in the house,” Ramirez said. “She became startled and immediately confronted him physically.”

A brief struggle ensued between the woman and the suspect, and because of her audacious actions the suspect got spooked and ran out of the home through the front door, Ramirez said.

The woman wasn’t injured during the struggle, and nothing was stolen from the residence, he said.

Minutes after the suspect fled the woman called the police, he said.

“She was very courageous,” Ramirez said.

The suspect entered the house by forcing open a sliding-glass window at the back of the residence, he said.
