Dear Editor:
Over the past several years I have written a number of letters to the papers.
Many of these have been idle chatter, but I feel that others have helped to accomplish something.
I think I helped keep a motel from being built on the city lot at the corner of Fourth and San Benito streets.
I believe I helped encourage drivers to turn on their headlights for safety on Highway 25 north of town.
And now, finally, perhaps my letters have helped to bring back the attractive medallion that we used to step on when entering the County Building.
If erected as planned, it will be beside the flagpole at the corner of Fifth and Monterey streets where we all can see and enjoy it.
I’d like to thank the editors for printing these letters and especially to thank those people who have stopped me on the street and in the grocery store to tell me they have enjoyed reading them.
