Effie Ceana Muenzer passed away with family by her side on Monday May 30, 2011, at the age of 91. She was born on February 24, 1920 in Alabama.
Effie met William Muenzer in New Orleans on V-J Day and they married in 1946, later settling in Hollister, CA. She then worked at Hazel Hawkins Hospital as an operating room nurse and supervisor for 30 years.
Effie is remembered by many for her compassion in the operating room. After Effie’s retirement in 1985 she was involved in American Red Cross Blood Drives and San Benito Hospice. In 1987 she was awarded the Chamber of Commerce Woman of The Year.
She was preceded in death by her husband William in 1991; survived by her children Joyce (Robert)Joyner, James (Kimberlee) Muenzer, Jerry (Carole) Muenzer, Joan (Eugene) Clancy, Janice (Scott) Holthouse, 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to join the family on Friday morning June 3rd at 9:45 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church 5th & College Streets, Hollister for Effie’s service which will begin at 10:00 A.M. Private Entombment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
