Walter L. Fine passed away in Salinas at the age of 93. He was born in LaRue, Arkansas and came to Hollister in 1942. He worked as a carpenter and cement finisher for Mark Nicholson and Carl Albright and worked on the pipeline in the 1950s and as a chef for the old Hartman Hotel. He served his country honorably during WWII in the Army.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Fine of Hollister, his sister and two brothers, Eunice Pio of Gilroy, Howard Fine of Tulsa, OK and Denver Fine of Filer, ID.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ova Lea, who died in 1975 and is also the one of 12 children- eight of whom passed away before him. He is also survived by three generations of nieces and nephews.

Friends can pay their respects on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Rev. Ron Green will officiate.

Interment will follow at the IOOF Cemetery.

Donations are preferred to The San Benito Saddle Horse Assn. or The American Heart Assn. care of the funeral home.

A reception will follow the services at Immaculate Conception Church Parish Hall.
