Atanasio M. (Nacho) Valles passed away at his San Juan Bautista home. He was born in Topia, Durango, Mexico and came to San Benito County from Westmoreland in 1944. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, worked for Ideal Cement Co., Ferry Morse and worked in auto mechanics. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop in his free time. He also served in the Army during WWII. He and his wife, Jennie, were married in 1940 in Westmoreland, CA.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie Valles of San Juan Bautista, his children, Adolph Valles of San Juan Bautista, Albert Valles of San Juan Bautista, Daniel Valles of San Juan Bautista, Carmen (Eppy) Ortiz of Modesto and Connie Marquez (Doug) of Paicines. He was preceded in death by his children, Esther Valles and Atanasio Valles III. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 13 grea-grandchildren.

The Rosary will be on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2005 at 7:00 P.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, Aug. 6th at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery. Friends can meet at the funeral home on Monday at 9:30 A.M. for a procession to the church.

Donations are preferred to Hospice/VNA, c/o the funeral home.
