August 31, 2004. He was 76 years old.

Elmer was a native of Hollister and graduate of San Benito High School. He was a life-long orchardist raising walnuts and apricots. He began the trade at a young age working in his family’s orchards in San Benito County. Elmer was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Hollister. An avid bowler, Elmer bowled in the Hollister league. He also enjoyed playing bingo and supporting local bingo charities in Hollister. When he had time, he also enjoyed taking trips to Lake Tahoe.

He is survived by his brother and sisters Alfred Bonturi of Hollister, Marian Roccucci of Burlingame, Lillian Overton of Palo Alto, and Doris Dunphy of Sunnyvale; nephew David Addamo of Santa Maria; and his very close friend Lisa Campisi of Santa Maria.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters Margaret Lucchelli, Josephine Bonturi, Gloria Cementson, Charles Bonturi, and Eugene Bonturi.

As per Elmer’s wishes, arrangements have been made for private cremation at Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory. Friends are invited to attend a memorial mass of Christian burial at 10am Tuesday Sept. 7 at St. Benedicts Church 1200 Fairview Rd. in Hollister.

Private interment will be held. Donations are preferred to the heart fund c/o of the mortuary chapel.
