Hollister resident Katie S. Slavich died unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 2. She was 75.

She was born in Mirca, Brac, Croatia and came to Hollister in 1956 after marrying her husband, Mike.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a Croation organization in San Jose.

She was an avid gardener and homemaker who loved to cook and have family gatherings. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children and their spouses Tom and Florence Slavich of Hollister, John Slavich of Hollister, Lucille and Frank DelCarlo of Hollister; grandchildren Kristina, Kelsey, Ashely and Sean Slavich, all of Hollister and Tyler DelCarlo of Hollister; nephew Nick Slavich of Loomis, Calif.; niece Brenda Slavich of Loomis, Calif.; grand-nephew Jason Slavich of Loomis, Calif,; grand-nieces Tasha and Vanessa Slavich of Loomis, Calif.; and sisters Jakica Vladislavic of Chile and Rosaria Luksic of Croatia. She is also survived by many additional relatives living in Hollister, the Bay Area, Chile and Croatia.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mike Slavich in 1999.

Friends may visit at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 8 at 9:30 a.m. from the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home proceeding to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a funeral Mass commencing at 10 a.m.

Entombment and graveside services will follow at the mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to St. Benedict Catholic Church, Sacred Heart School or the American Cancer Society.
