Geri Johansen passed away peacefully at the age of 70 in Gilroy. She was the wife of the late Laurence (Larry) Johansen a former Captain with the Salinas Fire Fighters, sister to Gennaro (Kathy) Filice, James Filice (Sue), and Mark (Diana) Filice. She was preceded in death by her parents Adolph (Eddie) Filice and Jennie Filice. Geri adored her nieces and nephews, Scott Filice, Paige Davis, Heather Miller, Chris and Kevin Filice and great aunt to Damon Miller, Danielle Filice and Addison Nicole Davis.
She worked for many years as a bookkeeper employed throughout the years for Dr. Carl Bozzo, DDS., Notre Dame High School in Salinas and the Shamrock Seed Company also in Salinas.
For many years Geri and Larry were members of the Ford V8 club in Salinas, attending many events with all their great car buddy friends! Geri was also very close to her family and never missed a family gathering.
Despite her disability, due to a stroke in 1998, she continued to enjoy life, going to lunch, shopping and the movies with her close friends from Salinas. She regularly attended Gavilan College for adaptive PE along with LEARN Speech Therapy.
For the past 12 years she resided at Gilroy Elderly Care Home where she received loving and attentive care. Geri was known for her big smile and infectious laughter! Putting her disability aside she had a zest for life with an indomitable spirit that could not be diminished. Geri was an inspiration to all.
