This is the suspect.

While investigating a vandalism case at Safeway on Thursday, police ended up pursuing an unrelated suspect who had been holding stolen property, according to the Hollister Police Department.

After a pursuit through the city, police arrested Reynaldo Reyesurbina, 19, of Hollister and booked him into the San Benito County Jail – with bail set at $47,000 – on recommended charges of evading arrest with disregard to public safety, driving under the influence, possession of stolen property and driving without a license, according to a statement.

A police sergeant at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday, while investigating the vandalism at the grocery store, noticed a suspicious vehicle and attempted to stop it. The driver refused and led police and sheriff’s deputies on a chase that ended in the 1300 block of Westside Boulevard, where the suspect’s vehicle stopped due to mechanical issues.

Police traced stolen property to the lawful owner, who did not know it had been stolen from his vehicle earlier that night.
