Potrerillos, Hidalgo, Mexico and was 83 years old.
Antero Ruiz died Nov. 8 at his Hollister home. He was born in Potrerillos, Hidalgo, Mexico and was 83 years old.

He had been a resident of San Benito County since 1957 and worked for many years for Almaden Vineyards which is now Blossom Hill. He married his wife, Enriqueta, in 1959 in Matamoros, Mexico. He was a member of The United Farm Workers Union, Sacred Heart Church, and was a volunteer with The Salvation Army following the 1989 earthquake and after that worked for them. He liked to garden in his free time.

He is survived by his wife, Enriqueta Ruiz of Hollister; his children and their spouses, Leticia Ruiz of Hollister, Rudy and Trish Ruiz of Hollister, Diana and Ben Zussman of San Jose and Linda and Bob Marron on Hollister; his brothers and sisters, Cirillo Ruiz of Hollister, Maria Nevarez of Paicines, Polo Ruiz of Mexico and Rosa Ruiz of Mexico. He is also survived by five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends can pay their respects on Thursday, Nov. 11 from noon until 9pm at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home.

The Rosary will be at 7pm at the funeral home. The Mass will be on Friday, Nov. 12 at 2pm at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow the Mass at the IOOF Cemetery.

Donations are preferred to Visiting Nurses Association c/o the funeral home.
