The Hollister woman accused of embezzling from a cattle dog rescue groupĀ over a five-year stretch faces an arraignment hearing Tuesday.
Idalia R. Borges is scheduled for an arraignment hearing at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the San Benito County Courthouse, according to court records.
Last month, the San Benito County District Attorneyā€™s Office charged Borges on suspicion of stealing nearly $60,000 from the Australian Cattle Dog Rescue nonprofit organization. She was accused of five felony theft counts for each year ā€“ between 2007 and 2012 ā€“ in which police alleged separate charges that she stole from the organization.
According to its website, Australian Cattle Dog Rescue, Inc. rescues and adopts out purebred Australian cattle dogs in the U.S. and Canada from animal shelters, humane societies, pounds and owners who can no longer keep them.
The allegations involving Borges came to light earlier this year, while the Hollister Police Department conducted an investigation and submitted a report to the district attorney. Deputy District Attorney Patrick Palacios is handling the case.
Borges could not be reached for comment.
