Authorities this week eradicated about 18,000 marijuana plants in a remote area of San Benito County, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.
The plants were seized from a “remote location throughout San Benito County,” but the statement did not clarify the area. A sheriff’s office detective could not be reached immediately for more details.
There were no arrests during the operation, while authorities estimated the street value of the plants at $90,000.
The two-day operation involved the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, state department of justice, bureau of narcotic enforcement, the United Narcotic Enforcement Team Campaign Against Marijuana Plantation, the U.S. Department of Interior and the Bureau of Land Management.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (831) 636-4080 or the tip line at 636-4084.
