in San Jose.
The Hollister High junior varsity girls basketball team won the consolation championship at last weekend’s Presentation Tournament in San Jose.

The Balers defeated Oak Grove 50-41 on Saturday to run their record to 11-2.

Johni Kiesewetter had nine points while Courtney Almaguer and Jamie Hall had eight each. Hall made the all-tournament team.

“We were deeper and wore them down in the fourth quarter,” said Baler head coach Tom Dean.

The Balers were down five points with 4:30 left, but put on a full-court press and forced the Eagles into turnovers.

Hollister opened the tournament with a 52-43 loss to St. Francis. Ashley Patton had 14 points and seven steals. Hall had nine points and eight rebounds.

The Balers rebounded to rip Aptos 46-13 behind nine points from Jaime Flores.

Hollister got into the consolation championship game by handling a good Sacred Heart Prep team 42-31. Almaguer had 12 points while Hall had 10.

Mitty was the tournament winner.
