Hollister – San Benito wrapped up its boys soccer season Friday with a 6-2 loss to Alisal.

“(Alisal) pretty much controlled the whole game,” Haybalers coach Juan Carlos Martinez said. “They did a good job defensively.”

The ‘Balers played the final 30 minutes shorthanded, as they came into the game with only 11 available bodies and had two players injured.

The Trojans punched in five goals in the first half against San Benito, which was using first-time goalkeeper Fernando Leon in the net.

“It was amazing, it’s his first time as goalkeeper and he saved a lot of shots,” Martinez said. “All of their goals were shots up in the air. We couldn’t do anything about it.”

Senior Eddie Trujillo, who started the year at forward before moving to the keeper position, requested to play forward in his final high school game and responded with a goal.

Gilberto Delgado also scored for the ‘Balers, who finish the year 4-12-2 overall and 3-8-1 in the Tri-County Athletic League.

“I told the kids just to have fun,” Martinez said. “Now it’s time to get ready for next year. I’ll just rest a little bit and start getting ready.”
