Highway 129

A 53-year-old woman had her vehicle stolen in a carjacking on Highway 129 near Aromas on Wednesday night, according to the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office.
At about 10:40 p.m., the woman had been about to enter her parked, running black Honda Accord in the 1300 block of Riverside Road, or Highway 129, when an unknown white male ran toward her, pushed her to the ground, entered the car and drove away, according to a statement from the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office. A 32-year-old female was on the passenger side and was dragged for about five to 10 feet until she fell from the fleeing car.
Authorities then received notice that the suspect had been spotted in Monterey County by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect led authorities from multiple agencies on a pursuit and eventually stopped in the area of Buena Vista Road and southbound Highway 1 due to public safety reasons with the suspect driving erratically.
Police described the suspect as about 6 feet tall, 200 pounds with a medium build, wearing a black sweatshirt and red baseball hat with an unknown logo. He is wanted on suspicion of carjacking, vehicle theft and evading law enforcement.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (831) 471-1121.
