Carmen E. Sanchez passed from this earth on Monday, May 3, 2010, in the serenity of her home. Carmen, born in Riverside, CA is survived by her sister, Lupe Sanchez and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Siria Sanchez, sister Mary (Angelino) and brothers Jesus, Luis and Vincent.

The Sanchez family established residence in Gilroy in 1936, and Carmen began her service to others, assisting with the family’s farming business. She continued to work in the service of others and later made her way to Guatemala as a lay missionary. Prior to retirement, Carmen worked at Catholic Charities, assisting with immigration services. Even in retirement, Carmen continued her service to others and especially St. Mary Parrish with her volunteer work as a member of the Catholic Ladies Aid Society.

A Vigil and Rosary will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at 7:00 P.M., Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy, CA. Mass is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Friday, May 7, 2010, at St. Mary Catholic Church; interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilroy,
