Former Hollister resident
Catherine Matulich Brown died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002 in Daly City. She was 87.

Mrs. Brown was born in Watsonville to George and Mary Margaret Matulich, who had immigrated from Croatia. When she was 6 months old the family moved to Hollister, where she grew up with her younger brother Johnny, attending Sacred Heart Grammar School. She married William P. Brown in 1957 and the couple moved to Westlake in Daly City, where she resided until her death.

She was a gourmet cook and baker and an avid gardener known for her beautiful flowers and well-cared-for lawn.

She is survived by many cousins, including Katie, Tom and John Slavich and Lucille Slavich Del Carlo, all of Hollister.

She was preceded in death by her husband and brother.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave. in Daly City. The Rosary will be recited today at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Prayer services and interment will be held Saturday at noon at Calvary Cemetery in Hollister.

Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association or Sacred Heart Church and School.
