A police chase on Hollister’s west side ended Friday night when the suspect crashed a motorcycle into a parked vehicle, according to police.
At about 10 p.m. Friday, Damian I. Rivas, 27, was arrested on suspicion of evading police. Officer Michael Paddy attempted to pull over Rivas for suspected speeding on San Juan/Hollister Road near Westside Boulevard, according to police.
Police alleged that Rivas failed to stop and tried getting away through residential streets at a high rate of speed. Police reported that Paddy followed at a safe distance, but Rivas lost control of his motorcycle and struck the parked vehicle on Beresini Drive.
Rivas sustained serious injuries, according to police. Rivas was transported by CALSTAR to a Bay Area trauma center, according to police. His current condition is unclear. No one else was injured.
Police alleged he had been operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license while on felony probation. Police after an initial investigation alleged he was possibly driving under the influence of narcotics, according to the statement.
