Hollister firefighters experienced a “test of the system” recently when there were several fire calls simultaneously.
Fire Chief Mike O’Connor said the department passed that test.
On July 3, firefighters were responding to a house fire on Tiburon Drive in Hollister when they received two other calls for service – a 100-acre fire near Pinnacles National Park and a 2-acre fire at San Felipe Road and Highway 152.
“That was the test of the system,” O’Connor said, noting how Hollister crews successfully handled the incidents.
While the structure fire on Tiburon destroyed a garage and kitchen – causing about $100,000 in damage to the $400,000 home – firefighters had it contained within 30 minutes of working the blaze that did not injure anyone, the chief said.
It looks like the house fire may have been caused by an electrical issue, O’Connor said.
O’Connor was unsure about official causes for the two other fires that day, while Calfire made quick work of another 2-acre fire in the San Juan Canyon area Monday.
