Daniel M. Benz, Sr. September 27, 1925 – March 9, 2015

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at 4:00 P.M., at Crossroads Christian Center, 145 Wright Avenue, Morgan Hill, CA. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Honor Flight at http://www.honorflightnorcal.org/donors.htm.
 Daniel Benz (Danny), a lifetime resident of Morgan Hill, entered into heaven on March 9, 2015, at the age of 89. He was one of nine children born to Frank and Nellie Benz.
 He was predeceased by his sisters, Catherine and Florence (Skippy) and brothers, Frank Jr, John and David. His surviving sisters are Ellenore Leimas, Esther Stevenson and Marie Brindle.
 In 1950, he married the love of his life, Cecile Duerner. For 65 years they lived in Morgan Hill and raised their children, Karen (Burch), Cheryl (Kern) and Danny Jr. He was also the proud grandpa to Breeanna (Chad Cabrera), Lindsey (Tommy Lacey), Brandon, Danielle and Lauren Benz and great-grandfather to Kayla, Azlan, Jonah, and Uriah Cabrera and Tailor and Mazzy Lacey.
 In 1946, he established Benz Construction which he ran until turning it over to his son, Danny Jr. He still worked in the business well into his 80’s.
 He loved to hunt, fish and work on engines and equipment. From the time he was a small boy he was actively involved in his church. He served in many capacities including deacon.
 Danny was a WWII Veteran, serving in the Navy and later, in the Seabee Reserves for a total of 33 years, starting as a seaman and retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer IV.
 Just last year, he was able to participate in the Honor Flight program, flying to Washington DC on Veterans Day to be honored for his service.
