A resident reported finding a decomposed body in Aromas on
Monday afternoon. Authorities are unclear how long it had been
there and what may have caused the death.
A resident reported finding a decomposed body in Aromas on Monday afternoon.
The reporting resident told deputies he had been walking on Cannon Road collecting wood for a home project when he discovered the body off the side of the street, near Chateau Drive. The resident showed investigators the location of the body, according to the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators went to the scene for follow-up examination, collection of evidence and removal of the body.
An autopsy will determine the sex of the body and possible cause of death, according to the sheriff’s office. It is unclear how long the person had been there.
Investigators could not be reached immediately for comment.
That area of Aromas is about a half-mile north of Highway 101. The area near Cannon Road and Chateau Drive is heavily wooded.
