Donald Jean Springer, aged 85, of Cheyenne, WY, went to be with his Lord Jesus May 25, 2011.

He was born August 15, 1925 in La Junta, CO, to Ware and Ada Springer.

Don served in WWII in the Navy as a hospital corpsman in charge of malaria control in the Solomon Islands. He also served in the Korean War.

He married the love of his life, Katherine Bishop, on March 21, 1953. They soon moved to Morgan Hill where he taught math and music for over 25 years at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill and Valley Christian High School in San Jose. He spoke often of the fond memories he had of his beloved students.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Katherine; his parents; and his sister, Audrey Springer.

Don is survived by his children: Larry (Jan) Springer of Carlisle, PA; Carrie (Kelly) Shioya of Roseville, CA; Kristina (Danny) Daniel of Cheyenne, WY; and Matthew (Dawn-Michelle) of Lodi, CA. He was a wonderful grandfather to Luke, Joshua, John, and Joel Springer; Laura Houck; Corie Hutchinson; Sondra Madden; Justin Baur; Heather Penner; and Desiree Daniel. He was the great-grandfather of 17.

Don will be remembered for his love for Jesus and his family. He enjoyed friends, music, and movies and had a special place in his heart for the Santa Fe Railroad.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Vinewood Community Church, 1900 W. Vine St., Lodi, CA, with Pastor Ron Payne officiating.
