Dorothy M. Hollars died on June 25th in Hollister. She was born
in Zurich, Kansas and was 86 years old. She is preceded in death by
her husband, Don Hollars who died in 1957.
Dorothy M. Hollars died on June 25th in Hollister. She was born in Zurich, Kansas and was 86 years old. She is preceded in death by her husband, Don Hollars who died in 1957. In 1959 she started working at Fairchild SemiConductor in Palo Alto as one of their first employees and the 5th woman hired by the original eight founders. She was involved with the prototype of the first hand held calculator and helped with the prototype for the first light emitting diode. She retired from Hewlitt Packard in 1984. She moved to Hollister from Palo Alto 13 years ago with her daughter.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert and Valari Hollars of Hollister, Donna and Jerry Hawkins of Hollister, Rod and Betty Hollars of Tracy and Peggy MacDonald of Hollister, her brother, John Campbell of Reston, VA who is 91 years old.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laura Pease, Curt Hollars, Kiersten Hollars, Deidre Hollars and Ashli Hollars and her great grandchildren, Matthew Stoltz, Joshua Hollars, Christopher Pease and Taylor Pease.

Arrangements for private cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory in Hollister. Private family interment will be at Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto.
