Elaine Oyler, age 87, passed away at Sutter Hospital in Roseville, CA on January 10th, 2015. Elaine was born in Fowler, CA to Lawrence and Rachel Gonzales.
She often spoke of her mother exchanging recipes over the back fence which ultimately led to her own love of cooking. Elaine married Ed Oyler July 1st, 1946, and moved to San Francisco. They made a second move to San Jose where they raised their two boys ,Steve and Larry.
The family finally settled in San Martin in 1968, where they lived for many years, enjoying farm life.
Elaine loved life, traveling to Reno with groups of friends and playing Bingo at the local senior center. Elaine made friends wherever she went. She was the life of the party and a listening ear to many young people she came into contact with.
The attendants at the assisted living facility where she was residing, would literally take their lunch breaks in her room to chat, tell jokes and enjoy Elaine’s company. The chili she would cook up was a bonus!
Elaine enjoyed her grandchildren and would sing to them in Spanish and tell them stories of when she was a little girl on the ranch. Elaine would say that even though her body was old, she felt young at heart. Elaine was a fighter, an optimist and never gave up. She prayed to the Lord religiously every night.
