Elizabeth (Bette) Patterson passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on November 30, 2013, in Hollister after bravely battling cancer for 13 years. She was 84.
Mrs. Patterson was born in North Arlington, NJ, where she married her husband, Russell Patterson, started a family, and moved to California in 1963.
Mrs. Patterson devoted her life to being a wife and mother. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life.
She loved to cook and to entertain family and friends, and she read the newspaper from cover to cover every day to keep up with current events . She especially loved entertainment news and pop culture, much to the amusement of her children, grandchildren, and their friends.
Along with her husband, she was heavily involved in the Gilroy Elks Lodge for many years, where he held two terms as Exalted Ruler.
Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Russell Patterson, and her adored great-grandson, Preston Orlando.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Russell Jr. and Judy Patterson of Scotts Valley, Kim and John Gylys of Olympia, WA, Lynn and Larry Orlando of Gilroy, and Kyle Patterson of Hollister; by her grandchildren Brandon and Julie Orlando, Robert and Lea Orlando, Paul and Brie Gylys, Laura Gylys, and Alex Gylys ; by her great-grandchildren, Addison Orlando and Austin Orlando; and by and by her brother, Alfred Hughes of Lyndhurst, NJ.
