Betty was born in Berkley, CA to Raymond and Elizabeth Whitehurst and died peacefully Santa Cruz, CA. She was preceded in death by husband Major Homer Crump, sister Roberta Hartman and husband Fred Sharp.

Survived by son Robbie Crump (Suzie Crump), and daughter Cathy Newkirk (Jeff Newkirk), stepsons Tom and Andy Sharp, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Betty was raised in Piedmont, CA and lived most of her life in Hollister. She was the proprietor of The Watering Trough clothing boutique in San Juan Bautista for 35 years, a member of Gabilan Chapter Kinship Center for almost 60 years. She was involved in the Hospital Auxilary and volunteered at Filoli Gardens. She hosted a beloved Easter Egg Hunt for friends and family in her garden for over 45 years, enjoyed her Tuesday and Friday stitchery groups, gardening, traveling the world and spending time at Huntington Lake and Capitola.
