Ellen Elizabeth Crippen Bellairs, the beloved wife of Harold Bellairs, passed away Sept. 25.
She is survived by her daughters Carol Jeanne Eshom, Susan Ellen Edwards; her twin sons Charles Todd Bellairs and Stephen Kent Bellairs; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; sisters, Mrs. Joyce Hanna of Baltimore, Md. and Ruth Jared of Tonkawa, Okla. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marcia Ann Bellairs; her parents, Vernon Simpson and Elsie Mae Crippen; and her brother James Crippen of Merced.
Ellen was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church from 1977 until her death. While attending the church, she was a member of St. Anne’s Guild, and the Altar Guild. Ellen worked at the Gilroy Senior Center as Activity Coordinator for 15 years until retiring in 1991. She enjoyed her work planning trips and the monthly newsletter. She, her daughter Carol and her granddaughter Christina volunteered as docents at the Mission in San Juan Bautista. For the pleasure of visitors, she often played a piano in the Zanetta House that dated back to the 1860’s.
Ellen loved flowers and owned a flower shop with her husband in South Dakota before coming to Gilroy. Flowers will be welcome at the memorial service. If desired, donations may be made to the Gilroy Senior Center or to research for Parkinson’s Disease.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, Sept. 30 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church located at 651 Broadway in Gilroy.
