F. Alice Bahr died Oct. 13 at the age of 91 years.

She was born in Ashland, Ohio and lived the past five years in Gilroy and was a past resident of San Benito County. She and her husband, George Bahr, owned and operated Quality Market in San Juan Bautista from 1946 to 1964 and she was a member of Fidelity Rebekah Lodge and Athena Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George Bahr, who died in 1976; and her sister Peggy Basarich.

She is survived by her son Eric Bahr of Pine Mountain; grandchildren Sean Dowling and Kelly Thompson; great-grandson Nicholas Thompson; her brothers Albert Michael of Ashland, Ohio and Robert Michael of Ormond Beach, Fla.; her nephew and niece, Steve Basarich of Hollister and Susan Villeneuve of Livermore.

Friends may gather at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 18 from 6 to 8pm to meet with the family and celebrate Alice’s life.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 10am at the IOOF Cemetery. Rev. Ardyss Golden of the United Methodist Church will officiate.

Donations are preferred to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory.
