The San Benito Cardinal tiny mites faced off in a regulation-style game against the Oak Grove Central Rascals this past Saturday on Jamboree Weekend, and prevailed 30-12.

The Rascals struck first on a 70-yard touchdown run on the first play of the game, but the Cardinal defense steadied themselves and the offense countered with several long touchdowns runs of their own.

Coming out of halftime with a 24-12 lead, the Cardinals started the second half on offense and mounted a long, time-consuming drive that resulted in the final touchdown of the game.

In an exciting contest filled with big plays, the game was ultimately decided by the strong play of the Cardinal offensive line and defensive squad.

Cardinal touchdowns were scored by Easia Torres-Lanford, Mack Stiers, Khader Yasin, Victor Jacinto and Julien Garcia.

The tiny mites will now prepare for next week’s official season opener against the Oak Grove North Rookies.
