Harry E. Bank passed away at his Hollister home at the age of 88. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Harry and Marian Bank.
After spending his early childhood years on a farm in Champlin, Minnesota, his family relocated, following a devastating house fire, to Minneapolis. There, he attended Washburn High School, and was a proud member of Sigma Nu Fraternity at the University of Minnesota.
After college he married Rachel Shirey, and they had three children, Kathryn, Charles, and Mary. He began a career in the finance field in Minnesota and Wisconsin, then in 1953 he transferred to California, and raised his family in San Jose.
After working for established companies, he decided to open his own mortgage brokerage which he successfully ran until his retirement.
Next came a move to Ridgemark, where he and his wife enjoyed golf, volunteering, and card groups. Harry was active in many organizations, including Elks Lodge #1436, Sons in Retirement (SIRS) Branch #131, Masonic Lodge #10, Scottish Rite, San Benito County Grand Jury foreman, San Benito CRB, and Ridgemark Golf and Country Club. He was a 49er season ticket holder for 40 years, as well as an avid SF Giants fan.
Harry’s chief enthusiasm was always his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Rachel, son Charles, and sister Betty Schutz. Harry is survived by his daughters Kathryn (Don) Knauf, Mary Yazdani, grandchildren Daniel (Amparo) Chacon, Sara Knauf, Kristin Chacon, Donna Yazdani, Sarah Yazdani, Cyrus Yazdani, and great-grandchildren Isaac Yazdani, Anelle and Lauryn Chacon, extended family Heidi (Chris), Nick, Dylan Finan, as well as nieces and nephews in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
