Hal was born in Oakland, CA and moved to Morgan Hill during high school, where he resided for the remainder of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Douglas Bud, and half-brother, Jack.
Hal is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bobbie of Morgan Hill, son, Dennis (Terri) of Carlotta, and daughter, Kellie Guerra (Gabe) of Hollister; grandchildren, Candace Daly of Morgan Hill, and Carlie Haydon (JC) of Marina Del Rey, great-grandchildren, Gigli and Gianelli Daly, and several nieces and nephews.
Hal was an Eagle Scout, an accomplishment he was always very proud of, and an Army veteran, serving in the Philippines, Korea, and New Caledonia during WWII.
A master of the building trades, Hal worked at the William F. James Boys Ranch for many years, managing their livestock program, and providing maintenance services for their facilities.
At heart, Hal was a cowboy and mountain man, born 50 years too late – who loved to ride horses, work cattle, hunt, fish, and play cards. Hal had a crooked smile, and a sense of humor he only allowed to slip out at the most unexpected moments both of which will be sorely missed.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the caregivers at Garden House at Merrill Gardens in Gilroy, especially Lupe, whose loving and caring soul meant so much to Hal during his last difficult years.
