San Benito County Supervisors voted to pursue a contract with the city of Hollister fire department for fire services.

The Hollister Firefighters Association has endorsed Ignacio Velazquez for mayor.

The union announced its support for Velazquez in an announcement released Wednesday.

The union announcement said as follows:

“It is clear that more than ever Hollister needs a leader that has Experience and Vision to lead Hollister in a new direction and that is why Hollister Firefighters Association Local 3395 has decided to endorse Ignacio Velazquez for Mayor of Hollister. We believe that years of inaction and lack of communication by the current city management has jeopardized the safety of Hollister residents. We understand that times are tough but losing a life because of a lack of priorities is unacceptable to us as firefighters. Ignacio Velazquez understands that the key to turning around our city is more revenues and a clear direction for our city and this is why we ask you to join us in supporting Ignacio Velazquez for Mayor.”
