Three separate shootings in a matter of hours Saturday night into early Sunday morning sent five men to local hospitals, one with critical injuries.

Three of the men were wounded during a shooting just before 2 a.m. Sunday in a parking lot across the street from Maxwell’s Lounge, a downtown restaurant and nightclub at 341 13th St. near Webster Street, police said.

Investigators say a 25-year-old Vallejo man had gotten into a dispute with a man inside the club and was then confronted by the man out in the parking lot as the club was letting out for the night. The man began shooting, and the Vallejo man was hit several times. A 23-year-old man from Hollister who was standing near him was shot in the leg. And a stray bullet hit another man in the shoulder, a 21-year-old Oakland man who was the rear passenger in a car headed westbound on 12th Street at Webster, police said.

All three victims, who did not know each other, were taken to local hospitals. The Vallejo man was listed in critical condition, while the other two men were considered stable. No arrests have been made.

In a separate incident, about half an hour before the downtown shooting, occupants of a car driving in the 5500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way in North Oakland at about 1:30 a.m. flagged down a police officer for help with an injured passenger – a 21-year-old Oakland man with a gunshot wound to the back. Police said the victim was uncooperative, but claimed he had been shot at a party near 59th and Genoa streets. The man was taken to a hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening. A motive was unknown and no arrests have been made.

A few hours before that, at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, a 52-year-old man was shot in the 2400 block of 90th Ave. in East Oakland. Police said he had just returned home and was standing in the driveway of his apartment complex when he was shot. He was taken to a hospital where he was listed as stable. No arrests have been made.

The victim of a homicide earlier Saturday was identified Sunday as Leo Dunson, 51, of Oakland. That shooting took place at 2:29 p.m. after two men got into a confrontation on the street, according to police. Units responded to the area and found Dunson suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene. No suspects have been identified in the shooting.
