A 32-year-old Hollister man was killed Friday evening when his motorcycle struck a semi-tractor trailer on Highway 25 at Bolado Road, according to a statement from the California Highway Patrol.

A California Highway Patrol spokesman said the agency is waiting for confirmation his next of kin has been notified before releasing an identity. He also said the CHP is examining who was responsible for the accident.

“It’s still under investigation,” he said. “Especially for something like this, as horriffic as this, it’s going to take a little bit more time.”

The man while riding a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle had been northbound on Highway 25 south of Bolado Road.

The 2000 Volvo tractor trailer was turning onto the road from the county historical park driveway and had been blocking both the northbound and southbound lanes when the motorcycle driver came around a curve and could not come to a complete stop before hitting the trailer’s rear, according to the CHP.

Authorities pronounced the man dead at the scene. Both lanes of Highway 25 were closed for about two and a half hours.
