San Benito County sheriff’s deputies assisted an outside agency in arresting a 35-year-old man Thursday suspected in an Imperial County murder case, according to authorities.

The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office was led to an address on Union Road where deputies found and arrested Guillermo Regalado Jr., Lt. Roy Iler told the Free Lance. Sheriff’s deputies set up surveillance in the early morning and waited for him to leave the building before arresting him at about 11 a.m. without incident, Iler said.

Authorities booked him into the San Benito County Jail and, according to Iler, Imperial County investigators received a confession from Regalado. He has been transported to Imperial County since the arrest.

Investigators did not find the murder weapon at the residence but did recover a 12-gauge shotgun, Iler said.

Local authorities referred questions on details of the murder to an Imperial County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, who did not return phone calls before publication.
