Authorities arrested two men and a teen Wednesday night in connection with a woman whose purse was snatched in a supermarket parking lot, Capitola police reported.

About 7:15 p.m., a 37-year-old woman was loading groceries into a Mercedes outside a market on the 800 block of Bay Avenue when two teens wearing dark hooded sweatshirts approached her and took her purse, said detective Dana Van Den Heuvel.

The suspects fled to a waiting red Honda and they were followed by an off-duty Capitola police officer to Esplanade Park in Capitola Village, police said.

The suspects left the car and fled on foot from there, and authorities chased them with a police dog. Sheriff’s deputies and CHP officers assisted in the search, a 33-year-old man from East Palo Alto, a 15-year-old boy from Watsonville, and another teen boy from Watsonville were arrested, police said.

The man was identified as Enrique Godinez, Van Den Heuvel said.

A fourth suspect, 28-year-old Juan Godinez of Hollister, is wanted in connection with the robbery, police said. Godinez is suspected of driving the getaway car, and items found in the car pointed to his identity, police said.

Capitola police ask anyone with information to call 475-4242 or the anonymous tip line at 475-2791.
