Homer E. Day died June 21, 2004 in Yuma, Ariz. at the age of 74 years-old. He was born in Henryetta, Okla. on Dec. 24, 1929 . He was specially selected to serve as honor guard for General Douglas MacArthur in Japan serving in the Army from 1946 to 1948. He was a self-employed general contractor and dry wall contractor on the Monterey Peninsula for over 35 years. He started in construction in Hollister.
He is survived by his wife, Virgileen Day, of Salinas; his son, Virgil Day, of Hollister; daughter, Belinda Grady, of Salinas; son, Gifford Day; and daughters, Patty Lou Day and Elaine Inloes, of Modesto; his sisters, Gladys Kirk and Velma Clement, both of Okla.; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 315 E. Alvin Dr. Salinas.
Interment will be on Monday, July 12, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the IOOF Cemetery in Hollister in the family plot.
